A new award for Grenoble born artist Julien Prévieux, 40, who recently won the Marcel Duchamp Award this Saturday at the Paris FIAC.

This prize rewards his work entitled « What shall we do next ? » created between 2006 and 2011. Conceived as both a choreography and a movie, his work stages what « Elie During refers to as the gestures of the future », based on a catalog of signs related to the tools of our contemporary era.

For this project, Julien Prévieux surrounded himself with professional actors and dancers, mixing dance, plastic arts, technology and experimentation. For that matter, he was accepted in residence at the Los Angeles Flax Foundation during 2014.

The Grenoble born artist, now based in Paris is represented by the Jousse Entreprise gallery. His work was exhibited numerous times, in particular at the Delme Synagogue, the Adhemar Castle in Montelimar, the Maison Populaire in Montreuil or at the FRAC in french low-Normandy.

The Marcel Duchamp Award was created in 2000 by the ADIAF, french association for the international circulation of french art, gathering over 350 contemporary art collectors in France. It aims to present the most innovative artists from the french scene and support their international exposure.

Each year, one of them is picked out for his work in the fields of plastic and visual arts. Last year, artist Latifa Echakhch was awarded for her installation called « Le Modèle ».

Thanks to this award, Julien Prévieux will get to be invited in September 2015 for a personal exhibition at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris.
